We had a wonderful field trip on Friday to Angel Mounds. I was really worried that we would get rained on, but the weather was great. The students had fun making arrow heads and learning about Native Americans. I am SO THANKFUL for the parents that were able to attend the trip with us. I tell people all the time that I love my job, and I love the parents and students that I work with. I am amazed at how you all come together to help out when needed. The impromptu dance competition I found myself part of was definitely a surprise. I did my best, but I came in second. But never fear, my Wildcats took care of me and bought me a consolation snow cone. I missed all my sixth graders that were left at school. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday when we get to observe black worms. FUN!!!!
We had a wonderful first week back at school. I am so excited to work with these wonderful Wildcats this school year. The students had fun seeing each other again and playing some fun games like Factor Captor. It was really nice to see the students working together to solve the problems. Thanks to all the parents who made it to Open House. The sixth grade will get their hands on the netbooks this week. We are going to have a lot of fun with them this year. I am so glad we are off to a good start!
School starts next week, and I am so excited! I have missed my Wildcats over the summer. I am excited to see you all again, and I can't wait to meet some new Wildcats. I hope everyone can make it to Open House on Monday, August 13 from 3:00-6:00. Drop in at anytime. Feel free to bring any supplies you would like to leave at school. It can be a hassle to haul those on the bus the first day. If you ordered the School Supply Kits, they will be waiting for you at school. I'll see you soon!
The students did an AMAZING job at eRev! I heard so many awesome things about our Wildcats. They taught countless educators about Weebly, and they were wonderful monitors on the Technology Playground. I am so proud and I feel so blessed to be a part of the Oak Hill community. I learned so many exciting things at the eRevolution. I cannot wait to try them with my students, especially the sixth graders since they have netbooks. Fifth graders, don't worry. I have some tricks up my sleeve for you as well. I learned a lot more about the clickers, so we will be using them even more this year! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer. School will be here soon, and I am excited to see you all again! Hello, Families!
I hope you're having a fantastic summer! We have a GREAT leadership opportunity to showcase our awesome kiddos and all they have learned with technology. There is a local conference at North High School on July 11-12 and we have been invited to present 2 sessions on Weebly! How cool for the kiddos to be able to TEACH teachers how to develop their own web sites! You will find LOTS of information at the link below. It doesn't matter to me if your child was in Tech Club or not! I realize some kiddos wanted to be in Tech Club but didn't have time. If they have a web site through Weebly and can teach others how to do that, then I'd LOVE their participation. Much more info. here: http://www.beardsbrains.com/erevolution-conference-2012.html Wow!!! What an awesome day. The students had a wonderful day. The games were fun, the pizza was great, and the students got along wonderfully. I am going to miss these little Wildcats over the summer, but August is right around the corner. I will blog this summer, and I hope to hear from students and parents. Have fun and be safe!!!
The Science Fair was a success! I had a wonderful time looking at all the projects. We have such wonderful thinkers in fourth and fifth grade. I can only imagine what these kids will be like when they grow up. The classroom presentations went very well. It was obvious that the students have spent time with Mrs. Richardson this school year practicing presentations. I was very pleased with how poised and well spoken the students were.
I am pretty excited to see all the science projects come to school this week. I imagine there are some students using the long weekend to put finishing touches on the tri-folds. How is it going everyone? Any questions?
